Exquisite Brazilian Mahogany Antique Extending Dining Table with 8 Chairs

This set is of exceptionally well-figured and coloured Brazilian mahogany and is in lovely original condition, with nicely carved detail to the edge of the top and to the legs!

Can no longer be exported from Brazil  - very RARE

This is a superb quality antique table with oval top, extending with 2 central leaves, supported by 4 elegantly tapered carved detailed legs.  Completely original and very solid, it remains in excellent condition.    Original purchase price was  $15,000 AUD.    It has 2 original leaves and can seat  6/8 but there are 2 extending leaves which would allow it to seat up to 10/12.  Few minor scratches.   

Matched set of 8 dining chairs - two of which are armchairs.  Beautifully upholstered in velvet, in a very pleasing soft "polo green" colour.  Elegantly shaped legs with refined carved detail.

WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT BRAZILIAN MAHOGANY?  Brazilian ("Bigleaf") mahogany is a tropical hardwood that takes 60 years to mature and can reach a height of 500 feet.  A high class timber, it is very strong and durable and is often referred to as "green gold".
