ANTIQUE FRENCH CURASSIER HELMUT .HORSE BRIGADE FROM THE TIME OF NAPOLEON III brass and Steel with full black horsehair Tail. This Rare Republican Guard Cavalry Helmut numbered no more than 200 at any one time. This Brigade was formed by Napoleon in 1802 and it is in existance today. This helmut dates to the 1880's The Helmut has the original leather lining and the Medussa head a the top.. the helmut is in very good condition considering the age. It has some minor pitting to the steel The red plumes are original and all other parts are original. An Exceptional piece. Approx 12"x 71/2" 10" tall without the red plume on top. the helmut has a dent on the left side near the front I do not feel that it detracts fro the all over feeling of the piece.
