Very impressive antique Kabuto helmet, originally used by Japanese Shogun warriors. I assume this is an old antique reproduction, made specifically for display, rather than to be worn (as it would be a very heavy helmet to have to wear). It is made from metal, possibly cast-iron, and brass and other alloys. The detail is magnificent, as the photos show. This is quite old piece, and although I cannot be certain of its age, judging by the wear and signs of aging, I would say it is certainly well over 50 years old, and is probably closer to a hundred years old. There is a fair bit of wear, aging, some tarnishing, and some rust in places; however, it is still a very impressive piece, and the signs of wear & aging, only add to its authenticity, as an antique decorative display artifact. There is an embossed maker's mark on the inner rim, which I am unable to read, but it is there for anyone who wishes to research it. This is a rare artifact, and would make a wonderful addition to any private or public collection, and would also make a fine gift for someone who collects Japanese militaria.

Note for international buyers: Given the weight of this item, it will be quite expensive to send overseas, but sending by sea, might be a viable option. International buyers should also be aware that the Australian dollar is very weak at the moment, so items listed in Australian dollars ($AUD) represent great bargains, for those using foreign currencies.
