Nice piece of honest original English Sterling Silver.
Is fully hallmarked with English Standard Lion, Chester city mark, date letter 'K' for 1910 with a partial makers mark which is possibly John Thompson and Sons Chester.
Lining has long since gone. Has some dents and dings but presents well overall. Will come up well with some sympathetic restoration as the piece has not been worn through at all and remains in tact and structurally sound, including the latch and latchstring.
Chain features a nice little double ring sliding collar whish I assume is to further prevent the purse coming open.
Weights 56 grams with the chain. Measures approx 10 x 7 x 3cm
Was purchased at the estate auction of the late Mr Lew Whiteman in 1995. Lew was an avid collector of all things antique. This was one of a lot of three purchased by me at that time.
