Victorian Walnut Ladies Writing Desk

C.1880

 

This a beautiful original ladies writing desk with five draws made from walnut some decorative veneer to draw fronts, original brass handles and key locks (no keys), turned legs with dovetailed draws, it has a soft mellow patina.

 

Original polish so there is some general scuff marks but I believe to be consistent with a piece of over 100 years old, it is a solid piece and very sound. Two pieces of beading are missing off draws, please see photos as they form part of the description. Was used for many years as a prop for the Melbourne Theatre Company and was purchased in 1983.

Small: 25cm x 18cm x 45cm deep

Centre: 37cm x 18cm x 45cm deep
