arck's custom Mac delivery ETA's are representative of what you will find online at http://store.apple.com/au. We do however advise that these ETA's are only estimates and can vary dependent on product popularity, component availability, and international and local courier delay's.

We offer this breakdown of production, shipping and delivery times as a guide :

• The shipping ETA that you see when you configure your custom Mac [ @ http://store.apple.com/au ] represents the time it takes from the moment your order has been placed and your payment approved to when your Mac is ready for shipping out of Apple production in Shanghai, China.
• Once your Mac has shipped from China it then travels via Air Freight to Australia, Mac Pro's and iMac's included.
• TNT then handle all customs clearance, logistics and freight forwarding within Australia direct to you or independent Apple Resellers such as arck.
• Once your custom Mac has landed at arck, we will install and test any additional 3rd party hardware and software that you have purchased. We will also apply all the latest firmware and software patches available for OS X Leopard and your hardware. By doing this we can be assured that everything is working as Apple intended and if not it can be addressed immediately.
• You will then receive despatch advice via email along with the serial # of your Mac.
• All freight forwarded by arck includes insurance.

RAM for the Mac Pro

Mac Pro systems support up to 32GB of 800MHz DDR2 fully buffered ECC memory in eight FB-DIMM slots. Choose among a variety of memory amounts and configurations.

Because accessing data from memory is much faster than accessing data from the hard drive, the more memory your system has, the faster it can manipulate your data, resulting in greater application performance especially when working with large files and memory-intensive applications, such as graphics, audio, video, and scientific applications.

The Mac Pro uses 800MHz DDR2 fully buffered ECC memory, an industry-standard memory technology that allows for more memory capacity, greater bandwidth, and better reliability. To take full advantage of the 256-bit-wide memory architecture, four or more FB-DIMMs should be installed in the Mac Pro.

Apple created a more robust thermal specification for the Mac Pro FB-DIMM heat sinks that provide more efficient cooling than many other FB-DIMMs. These FB-DIMMs require less airflow to stay cool and allow the internal fans to spin at slower speeds, improving system acoustics. FB-DIMMs made by other manufacturers that do not include a sufficient heat sink may cause the fans to run faster (and louder) or the memory chips to run slower so as not to overheat.
