Art Deco Danish Cohr silver plate cutlery set Ambrosius |
This lovely set is in good condition.
The set comprises 6 large dinner forks, 6 large dessert or Continental soup spoons, 6 dessert spoons, 6 teaspoons, a jam spoon and a bottle opener. There are 26 pieces.
The set is marked to the back ATLA for the maker Cohr silver Denmark and with a combination of marks mainly dating the pieces to 1930-1940. Please see below for information of this well known Danish silver company.
Cohr Silver
The set is in the pattern called Ambrosius and can be seen below.
Ambrosius silver plate cutlery
The pieces have many fine scratches from use and the odd grey pin prick size spot here and there. The back of the fork tines have some deeper scratches and one has some deeper scratches to the side of the neck but there but no wear to the silver. One large spoon has some silver plate loss to the back of the neck as shown. This does not extend to the side. Four of the teaspoons have pin head size spot wear to the back where they rest on a table top. The silver presents as bright and reflective.
In spite of all that I have mentioned this set presents very well and would grace any table with style and elegance.
The set weighs 1.4kilos.
All my silver has been gently cleaned with non abrasive silver foam. As such there are still fine usage scratches visible. These could be polished by a professional if so desired.
For North American users a handy guide is 25mm or 2.5cm is a little less than 1 inch, so 100mm or 10cm is just less than 4 inches.
Please note this item is original and not a copy or modern day reproduction.
