Art Deco Holmegaard Johannisberg Johannesburg decanter

This elegant piece is in very good condition.

The decanter is from the wine service Johannisberger or Johannesburg and features in the Holmegaard catalogues from 1928 until 1941. Please see below to confirm.

Holmegaard Johannesburg decanter

The decanter has cut panels to the base and the neck. The stopper is solid glass and has 6 faceted sides and a flat bevel edge top.

The decanter has no chips or cracks. The stopper has 2 tiny chips to the bottom of two facets circled in the photos. There is some faint residue to the inside base of the decanter I have not been able to reach with my bottle brush. There is no lime scale or etching from alcohol. There is no bloom to the glass from a dishwasher.

The decanter stands 370mm including the stopper. It weighs 735gms.

 This decanter complements the Holmegaard Christian 8 or Berlinois glasses I have listed.

For North American users a handy guide is 25mm or 2.5cm is a little less than 1 inch, so 100mm or 10cm is just less than 4 inches.
