A fabulous cast amber glass vase from the 1920's era onwards, made in Sydney Australia most likely & almost a certainty, by Crown Crystal. Mould made with 8 lobes, these flatten out towards the neck & the flared "fingers" pulled by hand.

Note the vigorously ground flat base & this is how you can identify these early Australian made vases. This piece has a few manufacturing blips, a rough spot on the front & a few bubbles here & there & you can see lines where it sat in the cast. Reasonably rough cast but that's the way these vases were made.

Unpretentious vintage modernist art glass from Australia & all that you find during your collecting travels, you will find are slightly different in height with the lobes varying in height & shape. Colours produced were various shades of pink, purple, amber, green & I have yet to find other colours in my hunting expeditions.

 The amber is rich & lush ~ catches the light well, solidly based and sits perfectly flat. No damage, as tough as old boots & early Australiana. Reference points are from my glass book by Marjorie Graham "Australian Glass of the 19th & 20th Century" which is out of print, but I managed to find a copy online.
