What is an Ethching/ Photogravure?
It is a type of etching- which is first a picture or scetch of a painting or other object taken on a sensitive film, a negative is than produced and or prepared and laid on or engraved into a sensitized metal plate, which is then developed and bitten with a mordant producing a plate that may be printed from.
Such a plate has no sharp incised lines like a plate used for the steel engravings, but rather minute photgravure is a testament to the skill of the artisans of the time...
I have many Ethchings/ PhotoGravures up for sale all Originals- No Repo's for the serious collectors and or Art Lovers or just for that perfect gift.
