Product Type: Acoustic GuitarsCondition: Used
Brand: AyersInstrument Family: Guitar
You are bidding on Ayers AYASR Auditorium steel string guitar. Ayers guitars are designed by Sydney based luthier Gerard Gilet and hand made in Vietnam using all solid timbers. This is a top end auditorium model, which has a 000 sized top but a deeper, dreadnought sized depth, which produces more bottom end than a regular 000. I do not know how old this guitar is, but I am guessing sometime between 2000 and 2005. You can read about this great guitar company at the Australian website  www.ayersguitars.com.au  NOTE ADDED These guitars compare very well with American made guitars. This one retails for A$2000 plus new.

The timbers used in this guitar are very good, the top is solid spruce, with a nice grain and a honey colour. There is a crack running in the lower bout of the guitar which I have photographed. I had this professionally repaired -- it is glued and stablilised with cedar cleats. In doing the repair the luthier commented that the top has been hand thinned towards the edges and the braces have been scalloped. As a result the top is very responsive and the guitar projects very well.

The top has an abalone rosette around the soundhole and also abalone binding. The back and sides are solid rosewood with an attractive grain. The fretboard is rosewood with very nice mother of pearl inlays. The neck is 1.75 inches at the nut, which is great for fingerstyle players. There is a bit of substance to the mahogany neck which is a very comfortable C profile. The guitar is designed with fingerpicking in mind, but also sounds great strummed. There frets show little wear. The action is low and very playable all the way up the neck.

The tuners are gold with black buttons and work very well. The Ayers logo is inlaid in mother of pearl script. This is a very attractive guitar. Overall the condition is excellent apart from the crack which I have described and also a very small mark on the left hand side of the top, which I have photographed. The end pin has been drilled out to accomodate a plug. I had this guitar fitted with an LR Baggs M1 pickup. Buyer could discuss purchase of this pickup if they are interested.

I am shipping this guitar with quality hard shell Gator case which I purchased for $169.

I am will arrange a courier Australia for $35, $45 to WA. International bidders please contact me to discuss shipping options.
