A flashy, Stylish Mobile Phone featuring touch sensitive controls, a sexy finish and whopping
5.0 megapixel camera, Samsung's F480 has both style and features in spades.
Features
The F480 is a HSDPA 3G
capable handset, so it supports downloads at speeds up to 3.6Mbps. Most
impressive is call clarity; volume in particular is very loud at its highest
setting, so much so that we had to regularly turn it down to prevent people
close by from hearing our conversation. In noisy environments this is excellent.
The hands-free speakerphone is also loud and clear, and it's easily switched on
during a phone call by pressing the centre button.
The F480 has a pleasing weight and its brushed metal finish
feels nice to hold. Samsung has opted for a capacitive touchs creen in the
F480, as opposed to the resistive touch screen technology it tends to employ,
and while these technologies are vastly different, the end result subtly favours
the F480.
Samsung has designed
a good touch screen interface for this handset. Incorporating the company's
TouchWiz widgets home screen and large colourful menu items, we've had no
significant difficulty in navigating the menus or performing basic phone
functions.
The F480 allows you
to create a personalised menu of shortcuts that sits on the main screen. This
enables quick access to frequently used menu items, such as calendar, SMS
messaging and email. The interface also highlights each selected menu item with
a different colour scheme, creating a contrast with the rest of the phone. For
security, Samsung's mobile tracker feature is present. When a SIM card in the
F480 is replaced, the mobile tracker sends an SMS message to an earlier
nominated phone number, revealing the mobile phone number of the new SIM card.
The F480 has
Bluetooth and USB 2.0, and the A2DP profile for wireless music streaming. The
MP3 player is compatible with MP3, AAC, AAC+ and WMA files, and features basic
play list support, repeat and shuffle play modes, a preset equaliser and 3D
sound effects. A new feature is what Samsung has dubbed CEpower technology, by
Bang & Olufsen - designed to offer enhanced acoustic capabilities and sound
quality without affecting battery life. We did note that the F480 sounded
better than most other mobiles on the market.
Other features
include standard POP3 and IMAP4 email access, SMS and MMS messaging with T9
predictive text input, polyphonic and MP3 ring tones and a voice recorder. Also
a range of PIM features such as memo, task, world clock, calculator, converter,
timer stopwatch and RSS reader.
Design
Comparisons with Apple's iPhone are inevitable, on the merit
of the touch screens and colour menus.
The F480 sports strong consumer
phone features, including a 5-megapixel camera with an LED flash and access to 3G & Next G Services
In unison with 7.2Mbps HSDPA data speeds the F480 has an
excellent pre-installed web browser. Its interface is simple and clean, and it
does a great job of rendering pages in a single column mobile view, which is
lucky because zooming requires more keystrokes than the finger gestures iPhone
users will be accustomed to.
The F480 supports a range of multimedia including DRM-free
MP3 and AAC music files and MPEG4, H.264 and H.263 video files.
Overall, this phone
is well worth the money and will bring many years of joy! 10/10 SAMSUNG!!!
