BANANA YUCCA, DATIL YUCCA

A native of Arizona, New Mexico Nevada and Colorado (the south-western deserts of USA) , it is adaptable to most soils, prefers a sunny position, and is drought, heat and heavy frost resistant. This plant was named for the edible fleshy fruit, 13 cm long, and looking somewhat like a banana that was used by native Americans for food.

A slow growing evergreen, it grows to a height of 1.2 metres with a spread of 1.2 metres. The leaves are spear shaped while the flowers that appear on a terminal spike are creamy white and bell shaped.

The Banana Yucca is known to survive a temperature range of minus 29 degrees C to plus 49 degrees C (minus 20 degrees F to 120 degrees F).

Offered is a packet of 10 seeds and Grownotes to assist you to cultivate this slow growing succulent.
