BETTY MBITJANA-Aboriginal Art- XXX LARGE 2020x1240mm!!!
|
DescriptionBetty Club Mbitjana
TITLE: Awelye and Bush Melon PAINTED AREA: approx 2020 x 1240 mm [plus generous border] COMPLETED: April 2008 Materials: Acrylic paint on quality canvas
THE STORY: Betty’s vibrant painting depicts body paint designs associated with Women's Ceremonies and tells the story of the Bush Melon which is a sweet bush tucker that comes from a very small bush. Betty's mother, the internationally renowned artist, Minnie Pwerle, and other women from her tribe, used to collect this fruit, cut it up into small pieces and skewer them onto thin pieces of wood. They were then dried and stored, to be eaten when the regular perishable bush tucker became scarce.
THE PAINTING: Betty’s large masterpiece can only be described as one huge kaleidoscopic burst of vibrant pastel colours, enthusiastically painted with her interpretation of her mother's [Minnie Pwerle - often described as the Picasso of the aboriginal art world] unique style.
Please note that there are a few minor smudges in the painting [as highlighted by the close-up photo], but as they are an integral part of the energetic creative process, they are deemed acceptable and therefore are an intrinsic part of the painting.
To say that the photos do not do justice is a massive understatement. A painting of this quality and proportions is destined to become a serious collector’s item and therefore would be a valuable asset in any investment portfolio. Needless to say, it would also leap off any wall it happened to grace.
THE ARTIST: BORN: c1954 REGION: Utopia, Northern territory COUNTRY: Atnwengerrp LANGUAGE GROUP: Anmatyerre
Betty Club Mbitjana is a daughter of one of the truly great aboriginal artists of all time, Minnie Pwerle (now deceased), whose other daughter, Barbara Weir is also considered to be one of today’s great artists. Married to Paddy Club, Betty is respectful of her family ties and possesses a great passion to carry on her mother’s beliefs and Dreamings, as well as interpreting her own.
She is an extremely talented artist and works her colours brilliantly onto the canvas in the unique energetic style that is so reminiscent of her famous mother’s. Now a highly collectable artist in her own right, Betty’s works are increasing rapidly in popularity and value, as their presence in many major private and public collections will attest.
PROVENANCE: Photos of Betty holding and signing her work that she has signed verso.

* All buyers with less than five feedback stars, PLEASE contact us via email BEFORE bidding to establish your credentials [we're sure they'll be OK!].
* Please note that the postage and handling costs include all packing materials and containers, packaging and handling, registered mail charges AND standard insurance - as well as the actual postage cost and or courier fees.
* Paintings that sell for over $1,000 will require insurance at 2% of the final price. We will automatically add that to the invoice.

However, these are totally acceptable as they are all part of the individual creative process and also help to confirm the identity of each particular piece.
* Each photograph is shown as close to the actual colour of the painting as possible. However, colours may vary slightly due to lighting conditions or the monitor used for viewing.
* Wherever possible, we observe and respect traditional indigenous sensitivities and tribal customs. We apologise in advance to living relatives if any references or pictures of deceased persons may offend. No offence is intended.
