The extraordinary career of singer / songwriter BILL WITHERS got off to a winning start in 1971 with the
release of his Booker T. Jonesproduced debut album Just As I Am. It featured a cache of great new songs,
including the evocative and spellbinding ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’ (US #3). Awarded a Grammy in 1971 for Best
R&B Song, it remains a radio staple. Withers’ equally impressive 1972 follow-up Still Bill was even more
successful, capturing the essence of his unique style: a remarkably sophisticated yet effortless blending of
smoky late-night funk and bluesy Southern soul backed by richly layered arrangements and quality song
writing.

The album went gold, producing three more massive hits: the gospel-tinged anthem ‘Lean on Me’
(US #1, UK #18),‘Use Me’ (US #2) and ‘Kissing My Love’ (US #12). Raven has now combined these two
inspirational albums on the one CD for the first time.

With digitally remastered sound and two bonus tracks, this is a fine feast of Withers music: warm, accessible,
funky and unique.
