this has lovely symmetry,  with a frosted glass shade edged with glass-beading fringe (perfect condition), making the whole thing rather art nouveau in feeling

The brass was probably coated with a protective film, a few remnants remain.  I do not believe there is any 'pitting' and the brass could probably be cleared of remnants with the right paint stripper (a suggestion only as I am not an expert.)
