For perhaps fifty thousand years the Aboriginal people have lived, and lived well, in Australia. They have watched the winds, the rains, the grasses, trees and flowers and known immediately where to go for food. They have developed a unique knowledge of native plants and a deep understanding of the value of many animal products.
This book is an exploration of these traditional skills and a compendium of the kinds of foods eaten by Aborigines. It indicated how food is caught or gathered, hunted or picked, how it is prepared and cooked, and what nutritional value it has. It considers, too, the use of natural products in traditional Aboriginal herbal medicine.
Illustrated lavishly with specially commissioned photographs, this book will be treasured by all those with a love of the Australian environment and a desire to understand what it can offer to sustain human life.
This large, beautiful 256 page hardcover is profusely illustrated with colour photographs throughout. The dustjacket has some creases and edgewear to cover and there is heavy fading to spine and part of back cover. Internally there is a neat book sticker with original owner's name inside first page. It is otherwise in a very good, tight, clean condition. This is a lovely book and one of the best I have read on the subject.
Postage quoted is for within Australia only and as this is a large, heavy book overseas customers should email me for a postage quote before bidding. Local pick up is not available.
