The extremely rapid change and development in business law is reflected in the decision to produce a new edition of Business Law of Australia two years after the last. The seventh edition of this respected work takes acount of the recent changes affecting relevant areas of law. For example the discussion of estoppel has been expanded to take account of the case law developed since the decision in Waltons Stores (Interstate) Ltd v Maher (1988); the discussion of the law in patents includes an examination of the effect of the Patents Act 1990 (Cth); Chapter 16 is now based firmly on the Corporations Law which could only be foreshadowed in the sixth edition.

In the last edition more use was made of headings and subheadings than previously and this has been continued here. Case reports are again emphasised in the layout so that the text is easy to follow. Comparative tables of legislation are to be found in an Appendix at the end of the book, providing a ready reference. In this edition, the Table of contents has been substantially expanded to give further assistance to the reader.

The balance of comprehensive coverage and straightforward interpretation inherent in all earlier editions is maintained, and will continue to make this work invaluable to students, practitioners and people in business.
