This is Brother Coos dressed up like a girl. She was my mom's. I am not sure how my mom missed that beat or if she just wanted a girl “Coos’ doll. Below is what found in my research on the internet. The description and the picture is as close as it gets to this doll, however there is not a chest plate on the one I am selling. The description below matches in every other way. He still coos when he is gently squeezed. 1948-1953 Brother Coos doll is 25" tall, is a toddler with composition head, chest plate, arms, legs, cloth body, magic skin. He "Coos" when you lay him back, brown painted hair with a curl in front, brown sleep eyes, molded lashes. Mark on neck is Ideal Doll, Made in View all the pictures on photobucket. This is the journal entry from my mom’s journal. She passed away several years ago. #42 “Coos” Isn’t she darling? Her magic skin is melting fast and probably will have to replace it with a cloth body but I want to keep her original as long as possible. She was purchased from Marilyn Hooten early on in my collecting. She was falling apart and was filthy dirty. (the woman Marilyn bought her from had her sitting on a back porch!) I mended her body with tape, washed her beautiful hard plastic head and laundered her clothes. Also had to add the shoes and socks. If you squeeze her ever so gently, she will coo for you. She was made by Ideal. Comes from a smoke free environment, looking for a good home. Thank you for looking at my auction. On Nov-05-09 at 16:04:05 PST, seller added the following information: I have been notifed from some auction lookers the postage is coming up really high. I offered different ways to ship, please use the shipping calculator to see which will work for you. The priority mail is the most expensive. Parcel post and UPS ground is much more reasonable. Hope this helps answer any futher questions. I also added more photos to the photobucket of her hands and arms. On Nov-05-09 at 16:06:36 PST, seller added the following information: "further questions," not futher. I just LOVE typos! On Nov-07-09 at 23:50:15 PST, seller added the following information: One of the lookers suggested the reason the postage may be comng up so high is the size of the box. Whoever wins this auction, please DO NOT pay until I get this in a smaller box and calculate the shipping. I can safely put her in a sitting position and send her that way. I will be honest and fair with my shipping charges. I do not want to pay it anymore than you and I really do not want USPS making any money off of this:) Thank you for your patience. |
