Instructions for Use:
Before first use, place the soother in boiling water for five minutes. Allow to cool and squeeze out any trapped water from the pacifier.
This is to ensure hygiene. Clean before each use thoroughly with running warm water. For babies up to 3 months disinfect the pacifier regularly by boiling. Make sure there is always enough water in the pot to avoid material damage.
As per the manufacturer's instructions, we recommend that you boil soothers in a pot with plenty of boiling water to sterilise, and not to steam sterilise.
Please do not clean in a dishwasher or sterilise in a microwave as detergents or heating in patches may cause material damage.
Do not leave soother in direct sunlight or near a source of heat or leave in disinfectant (sterilising solution) for longer than recommended, as this may weaken the teat.
Never dip the teat in sweet substances or medication, as this may lead to tooth decay and / or material damage may occur.
Inspect carefully before each use, especially when the child has teeth. Pull the pacifier in all directions.
Throw away at the first sign of damage of weakness. Cracks, traces of bites, stickiness or changes of shape may cause separation and swallowing of parts of the teat which is a choking hazard.
Replace the soother every 6-8 weeks regardless of signs of damage, for hygiene and safety reasons.
In the event that the soother becomes lodged in the mouth of your child, DO NOT PANIC, it cannot be swallowed and is designed to cope with such an event. Remove from mouth with care as gently as possible.
Please be aware that long term use of a pacifier may cause tooth and / or jaw damage.
For the safety of your child: WARNING!
Never attach ribbons or cords to a pacifier, as there is a risk of strangulation.
From the Consumer Affairs Victoria Product Safety Factsheet on babies' dummies comes the following advice:
Safety habits
- Check dummies before each use. Pull hard on the teat and tug the handl and ring to ensure they won't give way under pressure.
- Check the teat for wear and tear. If it looks worn or damaged, throw the dummy away.
- Always store dummies away from direct sunlight, which can cause rubber to perish.
- Regularly sterilise or wash the dummy in hot, soapy water, rinse and air dry.
- Regularly check your baby. Babies who are unable to remove the dummy themselves should be watched carefully as they are at greater risk.
- Never tie a dummy on a string or ribbon around your baby's neck or on a cot, pram or other equipment, as this can cause strangulation.
