Balenciaga Vintage Couture Dress & Jacket c.1950's-60's

          I am offering a Balenciaga vintage couture ensemble consisting of a dress with matching jacket made of silver tissue lame with an embossed flower pattern.  This is the real thing!  Custom made in the French atelier of Balenciaga in the late 50's or early 1960's, this ensemble makes an elegant statement.  Please note the hand numbered couture label that is sewn underneath the Balenciaga label.  The jacket is lined with ivory silk, has lightly padded shoulders and closes with 2 matching covered buttons. It is in excellent condition except for fraying of the fabric on the top covered button.   The dress is flat lined with a very fine silk mesh & has a built in corset.  There is some fraying & splits in the lining around the arm holes. The top of one strap (as pictured) and an area at the waist are also frayed. All damage to both pieces is repairable.  Otherwise, the dress is in excellent condtion.

           This dress was custom made to one woman's unique measurements and both pieces fall within the range of an American woman's size 4-6.   The jacket measures 18 inches armhole to armhole across the front, shoulder to shoulder across the front is 16.5 inches and center back from the neckline to the hem is 17.5 inches.  The dress's bust measures 33 inches, the waist is 28 inches, the hips are 44 inches (skirt is gathered) and center front waist to the hem is 35.5 inches.  The hem is lower in the back.  I am a size 4 and it fits me pretty well.
