Movie description
Based on the true adventure of an Alaskan sled dog named Balto who trekked across the frozen tundra to deliver a serum to a remote village in 1925, BALTO is a heartwarming animated film that features the voices of Kevin Bacon and Bridget Fonda. Balto, who is half wolf and half dog and therefore an outcast among the other dogs, must endure the treacherous attacks of the evil Steele as he tries to lead the precious cargo of serum through the dangerous Alaskan winter to save the village of Nome from diphtheria as well as win the love of Jenna, a female dog with whom he has fallen in love.

Released theatrically in USA on December 22, 1995. Winner of the Film Advisory Board's Award of Excellence. Animation by Amblimation. Color by Rank Film Labs; prints by DeLuxe; in DTS Sound. The animated film includes live-action scenes at the beginning and end, set in Manhattan. Additional credits: Colin J. Alexander (animation production supervisor); Daan Jippes (storyboard supervisor); Douglas Kirk (layout supervisor); Jeffrey J. Varab, Sahin Ersoz, Rodolphe Guenoden, William Salazar, David Bowers (supervising animators); Mick Harper (supervising digital effects animator). The movie is based on an actual event that took place in Alaska during the winter of 1925. Nome experienced a diphtheria epidemic and dogsleds were used in a mission to deliver antitoxin. The rescue effort was named the "Great Race of Mercy." After making the trip successfully, the dog Balto became a hero. He was honored with a statue in Manhattan's Central Park, and the annual Iditarod dogsled race continues to be held in his memory. Soundtrack available on MCA soundtracks. Merchandise credit is for actual purchase price not shipping. Buyer still has to pay shipping to return item to me and pay shipping on credit merchandise. In other words final price of your return items is the only part credited in merchandise credit, shipping is always paid by you.
