The auction is for one (1) Basic 6V6 5F1 Clone with added Tone Control, Single Ended (SE) Class A guitarE Amp , made to order, by me!.

An User of this guitarE Amp kindly provides this & Youtube files and allows me to display here :

I have been playing guitar for 40 years and have used many amps; when it comes down to it all you want is "the" tone. The old Fender amps with a single volume and tone control get you there with the least amount of mucking around and as the circuit is simple, what you get is pure tube-amp tone. Eric's 5F1 clone is beautiful; it has the richness and chime of my handwired Fender Tweed 5E3 but can be cranked up so the power tubes are soaked without breaking the windows. Does from chimey clean to the Stones "Brown Sugar" overdrive - and harder if you put a pedal in front. For a recording or home amp it is perfect - tiny in size, beautifully point-to-point handwired, loud enough for the job and that classic sound from the vintage tubes Eric uses. Think of any recording done in the 50's and 60's - blues, pop, rockabilly etc - and the chances are that great guitar sound was recorded from a 5F1 Champ. If that's the tone you're after, this is the amp that will give it to you.

One user of 5F1 clone evaluates :

guitarE Amp review.

Styles of playing:  Jazz, Blues, Hard Rock, Hardcore.

Sound:   9.5/10

Warm and creamy at any volume. Very low noise, far less than my current VOX AC15. The best part of the sound is the overdrive from turning the volume up past 3 O'Clock. Amazing clarity at loud volumes from the tube distortion.

Its 5watts but it easily kept up with my 100watt Marshall and VOX.

When using peddles or effects the volume output can be adjusted and you can get even more clear volume from this amp. I use a Line 6 POD x3 live which by itself can sound sterile but the guitarE amp warms everything up with the real tube sound.

The tone knob is a bit different. it isn't hugely responsive until you reach the end of the bass side, which give a underwater feel to the sound. But in saying that all Highs, lows and mids sing as it is. Will cut any mix!

Build:  10/10

All Point-to-Point construction. Eric Knows how to solder! after inspecting the electronics it is clear Eric knows what he is doing. It is very orderly and all solder joins are perfectly contacted. Some parts were second hand from the beginning but you would not be able to tell. The amp is sturdy and after running it for 5 hours at max no signs of excess heat to components.

Features:  8/10

It is designed to to be simple and easy to use. That is what it is.

1 volume, 1 Tone.

It dose feature 2 inputs which is good for those that run a clean line and a effects line in.

I requested a direct out (headphone or studio output) Eric was happy to install.

Value:  10/10

Find a 5 watt class A amp that performs like this one for the price I payed. Remember no circuit boards here. This amp will last longer than you.

Customer service:  10/10

Talking to Eric is a treat. Not often you buy something and get to talk directly to the maker. He answers emails within minutes of sending I have found, which is great!

Overview:  9/10

Simple and very effective amp. The GuitarE amp will not last at such a low price. Be quick to grab a quality handmade amp.

Feedback :

"One of the best sounding amps out there!!! Quality is amazing! Fast shipping!"

" Fantasic Class A Amp (Top of Range I have played) Well Built, Eric is a amp guru"

A recent user says : " .....  playing guitar because of this awesome amp you built me! I love it mate, it's the best amp I've got (and I've got several). Now I'll build a custom speaker cabinet for it. It's excellent Eric, thanks heaps .....".

me! ? Me Who, Me, Eric Mcchanson, I assembled Hi Fi amps from the 60s – rich experience both in audio valve circuit and amp making. My Guitar Amp Experience ?  I recall some 40 years ago, I wound wires around magnets to make "pickups" and installed them onto, and converted an acoustic guitar into an electric guitar. I also made a guitar amp having a spring-reverb unit (with echo effects, great !!), I played / practiced the first few notes (i.e. went the first few " miles ")  of the " Five Hundred Miles" ( 500 miles? really hard to reach ). The guitar strings cut my fingers, .... it was painfull..... and later, ....  I did not continue... - what a shame....... Guitar amps are different from Hi Fi Amps in which Guitar amps manage and accept distortion enrichments, while Hi Fi Amps on the other hand, try to avoid distortion.... I have completed many such guitar amps recently and all are accepted satisfactorily.

guitarE Amps* is the name given to those guitar amps made by me, using new & suitable recycled ( better word : revived, vintage transformers in most cases) parts. Customized to the required power, size and controls / facilities. If you may wish to have a different configuration from the one on auction, please contact me to see if I can make you one.

Q: Hi Eric what do all the swithes do? on/off and stanby, I guess is two of them! Do you have them with reverb? Thanks Ken
