Up for auction is one variation (we are also selling the other different design) of an incredibly RARE original handbill from the Million Volt Light and Sound Rave - held January 28th and February 4th, 1967 at London's Roundhouse - it featured experimental music created specifically for the event by the Beatles' Paul McCartney. This handbill comes from the collection of one of the members of San Francisco's Holy See Light Show who was asked by Binders, Edwards and Vaughn to help set up the light show. The handbill was one of several given to the Holy See by B, E & V prior to the Rave. The music used at the performance was tentatively called "the Fires of London and the Big Machines" though is now referred to as the "Carnival of Light". It remains possibly the rarest piece of known Beatle music, as it has never been reissued or bootlegged. The show also featured performances by the Soft Machine and other bands. This auction is for the BLACK ink on SILVER foil-like paper version. The handbill is in wonderful condition... with NO pinholes or tears. The edges and top two corners remain sharp, the bottom corners are VERY mildly bumped. All lettering and artwork is crisp and vibrant. Mild creasing is visible. JAN 1967 is written in pencil, lightly on rear. Artwork by Gill. |
