2 Beautiful Burleigh Ware Art Deco Plates - Bouquet / Zenith
“The table and ornamental earthenwares produced by this company are known by the name
Burleigh Ware, and recognized as amongst the most important British wares produced in Art
deco style” Judy Spours (1988), Art Deco Tableware, Ward Lock Limited London, p.101.
Presented for your consideration are 2 fantastic art deco plates, produced by Burgess &
Leigh (founded 1867) under the trade name “Burleigh Ware" in Burslem, England.
Charlotte Rhead (1885-1947) worked for this company, as a designer, from 1926 to 1931 and
left her mark on many of the designs produced.
The hand painted pieces on offer feature stylised flowers based on the “Zenith” shape. The design has bright yellow tones with contrasting black lines. The pieces
date from the early 1930s and would be a beautiful addition to your collection, or your
table.

Conditions
In excellent condition. Free of chips, cracks and repairs. Mentioned for complete accuracy:
clear not discoloured crazing.
