A beautiful copy of a carved panel- possibly part of an Early English architectural fixture- maybe from a Church or similar. It appears to be a very early interpretation of the St George and the Dragon fable? This large and impressive wall decoration is cast in a stone like composition- maybe a resin mixed with stone powder? The depiction of St George is unusual- he being without the usual trappings of horse shield etc? I am supposing this is taken from a very early emerging interpretation of the fable- or I may be barking up the wrong tree entirely!?

In any case this is a wonderful reproduction of a Middle ages stone or wood carving- and looks truly beautiful up upon a wall. These pieces are not cheaply produced- nor cheap to make- and would have sold for plenty when new. The plaque is in excellent condition as shown- and has buts a few very small chips which could easily be tinted and impossible to see at all.
