Also known as the 'Shuttle Run', the 'Beep Test' is an internationally
recognised method of determining an individuals level of fitness.
Successfully completing the Beep Test to a set standard, is
now a requirement when applying for employment in such occupations as:
Australian Law Enforcement,
Fire Service, Prison Service, Army, Air Force or Navy.
The Beep test involves running back and forth over a 20 metre course, keeping in time with auditory ‘beeps’ emitted from a CD player. Your running speed is quite slow at first, however this speed increases at 0.5 kmh, approximately every minute. This is called a change in ‘level’ and the time between beeps gets progressively shorter at each level.
You must continue to run for as long as you can keep pace with the beeps.
Your score is the level reached before you are unable to keep up with the beep recording.
This audio CD contains the complete test so that
you can practice at home to improve your score.
All that is needed is to slip the CD into any CD player and the test will start.
An announcement is made at the beginning of the test to alert you to the fact that it is about to start,
then audible beeps are played at the required cadence, with announcements at every level change.
The track can also be uploaded to an MP3 player and used to practice outside in a park for example.
