Ian Maclaren was the pseudonym of the Rev. John Watson

Beside the Bonnie Brier Bush is one of the most well-known works of Scottish literature.
First published in 1894, the book was an instant best-seller.
Its nostalgic tales of Scottish life, based on the author's experiences as a church minister in rural Perthshire, captured the reader with its blend of humour, pathos and racy Scots dialogue.

This edition is illustrated in American Decorated Publishers' Bindings 1872-1929 , p47 (Richard Minsky, New York 2006)

this book is in Near Fine condition
and the only fault that I can find is a tiny mark on the spine, and some toning to page margins (see photos)
