Blue Bonnets, Common Hovea
Hovea linearis

Blue Bonnets is a native of New South Wales subdivisions North Coast, Central Coast, South Coast, Central Tablelands, North West Slopes and Central West Slopes in Eucalyptus forests which is quite a diverse habitat. Its preference is for sandy, well-drained soils in an open, sunny position. It is drought and frost hardy.
A decumbent or erect shrub to 50cm, stems and branches are densely pubescent (hairy); the lower leaves are ovate to elliptic 1 - 2.5 cm long, the upper leaves are linear to lanceolate 2.5 - 6cm long and narrow; the pea flowers appear singly or groups of two from the leaf axils and are a pretty blue. Flowering is in August-September.
