ANISEED MYRTLE

(Backhousia anisata, grown in the Bellinger Valley, its natural habitat )

ANISEED MYRTLE is the oil from the Australian subtropical rainforest tree, called Ringwood, which is very rare in the wild.

CONSERVATION STATUS:   2Rca:

2- The species has a natural range of less than 100 km

R - it is rare

c - it is conserved in a reserve

a – it is considered ‘adequately conserved’-  ie there are 1000 plants or more within  the reserve.

RINGWOOD LORDS

Written by Maree Blewitt

There is an old growth forest in the valley that few human eyes have seen.  Protected by its isolation and by National  Park & Wildlife Service regulation, this forest of Ringwood giants – some 40 metres tall and 5 metre around - is an ancient reminder of a former glory.

These lush rainforest trees have evolved in one small valley in the world and exist, naturally, nowhere else.  Although there are several remnant populations in the valley, there is none so grand, so awe-inspiring, as the old growth forest.  The following poem by Evelyn Cadman, is an ode to this magical place.

FOREST OF ANISEED

Forest of Aniseed – stately and grand

Tucked away safely, away from demand

Fills the air with parochial scent

And carpet the floor with leaves that are spent.

Beautiful forest of medieval feel

Whispers of passing time and things that are real

Visions of otherworlds or a universe complete

In the palm understorey and ferns at your feet.

A precious place is this forest so rare -

Such a privilege to know it is there.

In an uncertain world of chaos and dilemma

This place creates the ultimate centre.

The aromatic potential of this rare Australian native was first investigated by the NSW Forestry Commission in the 1940s, when the war in Europe made European sources of anethole inaccessible. Sixty years later, this potential has been revived.

This is a hand-tended plantation grows side-by side with the wild creek-side trees in their natural habitat.  The trees are hand-harvested and distilled to yield a high quality pure essential oil that cannot be duplicated in conditions outside the natural range of this species.

Aniseed Myrtle applications:

Here is a feedback form our customer: I was suffering from hard dry cough attack during flu which was absolutely exhaustive, sleepless and even painful. A few drops of Aniseed Myrtle on a pillow made a miracle – cough stopped within a minute, and I slept well till the morning. I repeated this procedure next day, inhaling Aniseed Myrtle and rubbing my chest with undiluted Blue Cypress - flu symptoms and bronchitis disappeared within a few days and there was no need in antibiotics. Actually I found this oil much more effective than, say, Aniseed or Star Anise.

Aniseed Myrtle is considered to be an:

  • expectorant
  • sedative and
  • stimulant in cough medicines.
  • antiseptic
  • bactericide
  • cancer-preventative
  • carminative
  • fungicide
  • gastro stimulant

AUSTRALIAN BLUE CYPRESS 12 mL

(Callitris Intratropica)

Australian Blue Cypress Oil is an essence from the wood of Callitris intratropica, a high density beautiful cobalt blue colour substance, has a subtle woody aroma with a warm base note and smoky undertones.  The Oil has remarkable range of effective applications.

Here is some of the numerous anecdotal evidence report from the book "Birth of the Blue": A woman and daughter were both affected with atopic eczema in the same upper arm area. They used soap containing .75% Blue Cypress Oil and, within five days, the eczema disappeared from both women. It has not reappeared after 15 months. . A 47-year old man with a severe burn to his left middle finger from a welding rod applied undiluted Blue Cypress Oil to the burn and kept on working. The pain reduced within a few minutes. He finished the job, washed his hands, reapplied the oil but didn't cover the wound -he said later that the burn healed much faster than they usually do! ( C. Olsen, (2000). Birth of the Blue. Australian blue Cypress oil. Kali Press, Canada.) C. Olsen listed the properties of Blue Cypress Oil as Anti-inflammatory,

·   Anti-itching,

·   Hydrating and skin softening,

·   Skin-cleansing,

·   Anti-viral and anti-bacterial,

·   Mild pain reliever ( muscular tension & pain ),

·   …and much more (e.g. it is reported for healing of warts, it can release troubled breathing, caused by sinus infection… )

Ref: ( C. Olsen, (2000). Birth of the Blue. Australian blue Cypress oil. Kali Press, Canada.)*

The oil is very expensive due to many reasons: the production of Blue Cypress oil is costly in comparison to other essential oils – distillation operates at low pressure and usually takes 30 hours. The special equipment have been designed to produce the highest and most consistent quality of oil. The production of oil is restricted during monsoon season between November and April. In addition the tree is harvested from only long established plantations in Northern Australia, which total area is not large yet, and the trees do not yield much oil.

CONSTITUENTS AND PROPERTIES: Callitris intratropica contains cuainenes, selinenes, eudesmols, and other components. Some similarities found with well-known German Blue Chamomile. The magnificent blue colour comes from guaiazulene that is strong anti-inflamatory substance. Oil has a subtle woody aroma, similar to Vetiver Oil and Cedarwood Oil, with warm woody base note with smoky undertones. This aroma makes it ideal for a variety of cosmetic and perfume products. Unlike most essential oils, Blue Cypress is heavy oil with density is slightly higher than water, it is not easily evaporate.

Tasmanian Lavender Oil

(Lavendula angustifolia)

Known to be the finest, most delightful and expensive lavender oil. Naturally it contains less camphor (camphor usually adds a sharp medicinal note to the aroma) and more linalool (the major active component of Lavender oil) than any other known Lavender oil. This outstanding quality has been achieved after many years of careful plant selection, combination with the unique Tasmanian climate and appropriate land management. Truly Tasmanian Lavender is not easily available on the market, because it may be produced only in limited quantities. Almost the whole harvest is exported for use in top quality natural perfumes.

This is a short feedback from our USA customer:”… Oh how I missed Tasmanian Lavender!  I use other Lavenders--French, Bulgarian, Grosso (though the later is a hydrid, Lavandula x intermedia; excellent for breaking up thick, stubborn mucous in the lungs)--but when I first experienced Tassi Lavender, it remained my #1 favorite to this day...”

ROSALINA OIL, 12 mL

(Melaleuca ericifolia)

Australian native rare essential oil, has a delightful calming and relaxing rosy aroma, unique properties, and a wide range of applications

Rosalina belongs to the same botanical family (melaleuca) as Tea Tree oil, but chemically rich in linalool (the major active component of Lavender Oil). Another common name for Rosalina is Lavender Tea Tree.

Rosalina combines the properties of well known Tea Tree and Lavender oils, but the effectiveness of Rosalina oil is much higher than, say, blended Tea Tree and Lavender oils; Rosalina is a Nature-made powerful synergy of hundreds of natural components, some of them are the same with Tea Tree and Lavender oils.

Rosalina is a wonderful cosmetic agent for oily skin and also is recommended for upper chest infections.

Rosalina is gentle, soft but cleansing oil; good for sad or heavy heart, helps to free from feeling stuck, brings your mind into a state of balance.

Rosalina is a wonderful antiseptic agent. Rosalina may be used in Massage and bath Oil blends, providing a rosy fragrance and for its relaxing and calming effects

Once you’ll try Rosalina, you’ll be hooked by this delightful Australian oil.

Rosalina blends well with other Australian essential oils.

AUSTRALIAN SANDALWOOD, 12 mL

(Santalum spicatum)

Australian Sandalwood is an essential oil with a charming, warm, and woody aroma. Highly reputed in aromatherapy and meditation. Sandalwood helps to achieve harmony and tranquility, unites sensuality and spirituality. A Reputed aphrodisiac. Added to cosmetics, it defuses the aging effect. A base note and an excellent perfume fixative in combination with other essential oils. Ages well.

There are many different grades of Australian Sandalwood on the Market, some of them have unpleasant aroma. This is a finest quality Australian Sandalwood, it has pleasant Sandalwood aroma, similar to Indian Sandalwood (Santalum Album).

Australian Sandalwood in contrast to well-known Indian Sandalwood (Santalum album) has better anti-inflamatory activity; anti-microbal and anti-bacterial properties.  Australian Sandalwood oil is a pure, high quality oil meeting world class standards in all areas of Sandalwood oil production, available at prices with which other Sandalwood oils cannot compete. Manufactured by state of the art technology, Australian Sandalwood is an essential oils of consistent quality, sustainable supply, and stable market prices.

I may only add that this is a top selling essential oil from our Golden Collection of Australian Essential Oils.

LEMON SCENTED IRONBARK OIL, 12 mL

(Eucalyptus staigeriana)

Finest lemon-based eucalyptus oils with an uncompromised fresh delicate lemon aroma. As a majority of Australian eucalyptus oils, it is a great antiseptic agent. Helps to restore your natural cycle of sleeping and waking after long trips, or emotional and physical strain; increases the effectiveness of rest and night sleep. Blends well with other Australian essential oils, such as Blue Cypress, Lavender, and Sandalwood. Native to Australia. Produced in small quantities.

Instructions for Use:

Place 1-2 drops on Austraroma aromastone, aromamedallion, or your handkerchief.

Oil burner: mix 2 - 4 drops with water

Floral water: LEMON SCENTED IRONBARK is excellent choice for preparations of floral water for house or clothes aromatization: add 10 drops of LS ironbark to 0.5L of water in spray bottle and shake before use. While the oil will not blend with the water, it does impact the aroma and properties of essential oil when sprayed. Lemon-scented ironbark is a good example.
