An excellent small electric furnace for melting metals, heat treating, brazing, glassmaking and many other uses can be made for a few dollars.A good general purpose furnace, going up to about 1800 degrees F on 700 watts of power, will have a heating chamber 3 inches in diameter and 6 inches deep.It will take a 2 1/2 inch fireclay crucible and will melt two to three pounds of metal.
Current used is less than 7 amps so an ordinary household plug can handle this easily.A furnace built from these instructions will last for years.A pair of tongs and some fireclay crucibles which can be bought at a scientific supply store (or online)is the only other tools needed. The furnace will most non ferrous metals and can be used for brazing, silver soldering, tempering small tools, working and annealing glass, baking enamel glazes and for firing small pieces of pottery.Even synthetic rubies and emeralds have been made in this furnace.
You are buying the reprinted instructions and plan drawings only.No materials or anything else is included. This is not a book. This material was first printed years ago and is copyright expired and in the public domain.Get your copy now and build this great little furnace.
