Love, who can explain it?. When we are in love, we tend to only see one’s beauty and strengths, ignoring and fiercely defending any faults, even though they may be obvious ones. This honorable virtue is too often found among tube loving audiophiles. They love a good old 300B or 2A3 for its honey coated mid-range intonation, and who could blame them. Teamed with the right system, and the right song on the right night (cold, dark and rainy), that old tubby still melts hearts like no other.

Once bitten by the love bug, a tube loving audiophile sacrifices willingly - as true lovers do. Their selection of speakers narrows to those with very high sensitivity, and their music also narrows, to those slower and with fewer musicians – but hey, they don’t give a rat’s a*** because they are in love, and self sacrifice is the ultimate act.

With our PI-100 power amp, Team Burson has demonstrated the fact that valves do not have the primary hold on acoustic truth. I have a PI-100 and a PP-100 amp. The rest of my gear is Cayin CD17 and Dynaudio Focus 220. The Cayin CD17 has been tweaked with Burson discrete OP-Amps and new NOS Tubes. I have also changed several capacitors.The crossover in Dynaudio Focus 220 have been tweaked with Mills resistors and capacitors from Sonicap. All cables are from Kimber.

...”I was really enjoying Jacky Terrasson and Cassandra Wilson's Rendezvous today. Turning it up (30% on the volume is very loud!), the timbre and soundstaging of voices and images was excellent. Jacky's piano sounded very good - certainly as good as I've heard on my system. Cass' voice was beautiful, very engaging. Upright bass was taut and well defined. I had been struggling to hear the bass - but have never considered this the fault of the amps.
