*Artist Statement*
Brett Barker is a fourth generation Western Australian artist ;
his great grandfather John Barker Born in Dunnington York 1867 (a Painter) ,
is represented in the National Gallery of Australia and the Art Gallery of Western Australia .
Brett originally trained in Art Education ( Diploma of Teaching , Batchelor of Education )
; teaching in schools in Western Australia from 1986.
He then moved into creating jewellery ; establishing his business ,
designing and manufacturing his own unique pieces , for the
past eighteen years. He prides himself on his original designs
and quality workmanship ; All the jewellery he produces is
created in his workshop in Fremantle using only gold and
silver from the Perth Mint . He established a retail outlet in
Fremantle in 1995 , which he continues to operate.
As well as the large range of designs that he has created ,
he also has been Commissioned to design pieces
for specific organisations.
