Phoenix canariensis, known as the Canary Island Date Palm, is a  tall stately palm that grows to 20 metres tall but is more commonly 10 metres in cultivation. It is native to the Canary Islands.

Has a stout trunk 70-90 cm in diameter.

The leaves are pinnate up to 6 metres long, with 80-100 leaflets on each side of the central rachis.

The fruit is an oval yellow to orange-brown drupe, 2 cm long and 1 cm in diameter and containing a single large seed. The fruit pulp is edible but too thin to be worth eating.

Full sun, well drained position. Very hardy, and frost, salt spray, and drought tolerant.

For sale is a packet of 30 fresh seeds.
