As you can see the
document is very old. The story as how it came to us is quite fascinating in
itself.
My father was attached to a artillery detachment during the battle of The Somme,
France in WW1
After a time both he and a gunners mate entered a town recently destroyed and
found clouds of papers floating around the streets
He happened to collect many of these papers, one of which was this document.
It had been damaged during the bombardment, but he salvage the paper
and kept it with him until he passed away some 72 years later.
He never showed the document to anyone except me nearer to his death.
I have written to various person's involved in these types of matters.
My most recent correspondence was with some world renown academics based in Cape
Town South Africa.
The document is
entirely genuine and I would really like to have this sold to a real collector.
I have endeavoured over the past 9 years to make contact with the family
concerned, buy to no avail.
So I am now selling this most unusual item.
It's value to me is
priceless, but I have decided to rid myself of most of my families
so called antiquities and start a fresh.
I am looking for a fair price for an object of such importance and genuine
antique heritage
Now over 180 years old.
It has survived The War
to End all Wars (WW1) and 3 years of service in that horrific war
Repatriation back to Australia and some 70 years of life in Australia and
travelling around the globe
It has fine heritage and providence
The
item comes attached to a board like piece at the rear - with an acid free piece
of glass over the top of the document
The document is currently in a air sealed bag, out of strong light to preserve
the paper
The condition is seen in photo above
