Hello,
You are looking at a fabulous very heavy cast iron Victorian reproduction plinth & urn. This heavy, substantial beauty is the perfect piece to use inside or out to add an architectural element that would stand out. It could also be used to enhance an entrance. Without the urns the plinth could also be used as a base for a table or statue. They have been been painted in a lovely dark forest green with hints of copper highlighting the decorative panels & edges. These could easily be repainted and you could create a completely different look to blend in with your environment. I believe they could probably last you a life time. I have seen very similar on English garden & home websites and they sell for a fortune.
Plinth
34cm wide bottom
28cm wide top
Urn
44x44cm
Total 67 cm height (wreath motif)
This auction is for 1 x plinth & urn with the wreath motif. I do have another listed with a floral motif and at this point I have additional pieces and would be happy to discuss additional purchases so you can possibly create a pair.
The reason that the starting price is so low is that I think at one point there was an additional piece that went between the plinth and urn, I personally do not feel this affects the look in any way and I could be wrong but I just like to be as descriptive as I can. The plinths are hollow and the urns sit on top of this hole. With the floral you can (if you put your face right up to it) slightly see into this crevice but this is so hard to see it was impossible to capture with a photo. Happy to send photos.
I have had mine sitting out me in the garden for a long time now and they have only formed the faintest of patinas, if you wished to avoid that they could be painted with an anti rust coat. The ones I am selling have been safe from the elements
I am in Newtown and would be happy for you to view.
All the best
