This listing looks like a bit of a lengthy read - if you are really serious about having a few chooks in the back yard, we think it will be worth your while spending a few minutes here........................................

The house contains two nesting boxes with outside access. The nesting boxes have a latch for locking.

The house contains two  solid perches and has removable floors for easier cleaning.  (Handy hint - to facilitate cleaning of wooden floors in any coop - add a liberal amount of sawdust/shavings/fine straw etc. - we looked at incorporating a tray in the design of this coop but decided against it - too messy)

The roof lifts and has stays that "click" into place.  (We  recommend caution when opening the roof in  windy weather.) The timber roof is  finished with waterproof asphalt tile and coloured a pleasant green.  (the nesting box roof is made of the same material)

There are two access doors with ramps.  They are lifted and held in place by padbolts when security is required. (night time)  One at the front for access to the run and the other at the side for use when hens are being allowed to "free range" -  You won't see this  "must have" feature on any other coops on ebay.

The run has loose pin hinges on the front access door.  When in use as an extension on the house the door is removed. When in use as a separate entity the door is simply dropped back into place. The house and run are securely coupled by hooks. (only takes a couple of minutes)

The run has a cantilevered roof/door, which allows easy access for feeding, watering, catching chooks etc.

Being able to use the house and run separately enables you to perhaps use the house as a secure lock up in the evenings and use the run as a "tractor" or easily moved enclosure to graze garden beds, lawns etc. for feeding and pest removal during the day. The possibilities are many and varied.

To buy the materials to build this set up would cost you a lot more than our asking price - and yes, it is manufactured in China.  Having some concerns about stories one hears about exploitation of labour, concern for the environment etc. we went to China to check it out.  The factory that manufactures this product (and all of our other timber products) is situated in a rural part of the country. The people in the villages/towns in that area, have mainly been farmers/labourers - they now have jobs - and their living standards are improving all the time.  Also - the raw materials they use are coming from sustainable forest - for every two trees taken they must plant three as a replacement. .........  sorry, I go on a bit.

 Precision manufactured from cedar stained fir. All weatherboards are tongue and grooved for superior strength and stability.  Finished with an animal friendly, UV and weather resistant coating. We would recommend that the house/run is suitable for up to half a dozen chooks - depending on breed/size of course. Also wether they are free ranged. Not a bad idea to start off with a couple. Last time we had this coop/run we were inundated with requests as to where to buy chooks, Here's a tip - type chickens, pullets,chooks,point of lay  and your locality into Google.     Also the Weekly Times has  a poultry  section.                                                                   There's nothing quite like home grown organic eggs! - plus the kids (grandchildren in my case!) love collecting eggs and feeding etc.

The house/run comes flat packed in two cartons.  Assembly instructions are enclosed - along with ALL necessary hardware (bolts - screws - etc)  It takes about 20 mins. to put each of them together - A screwdriver is all that is  required!
