This book is a part of a series about discovering soils. It explains about composting and what it is, ingredients, changes inside the heap, methods of making compost, using the product and gives a list of further reading.

The alternatives: burning organic "wastes" or returning them to our soils, via compost. Two methods of making compost: the contained heap operation works well and is cheap to set up. Free standing heaps as illustrated in this booklet maybe more appropriate for larger gardens. The commercially produced tumbler-bin also works very well, is easy to use; but of course costs more than a plastic bin or materials for a contained heap.

This used booklet is in good condition. There is slight wear on the corners.

It has 19 pages.
