 Title: "Natural Innocence" (female nude study) ARTIST'S STATEMENT The human form in an artwork holds the potential to portray their own emotion as well as dictate that of the viewer. They are powerful elements for the viewer to relate to and add huge possibilities to the story telling capabilities of images. Human nature makes us relate more personally to qualities of a figure in an artwork than say a still life or landscape. The human form is endlessly challenging as an art subject. It is a live, moving, breathing creature whose physical gestures, facial features and expressions hold endless possibilities for analytical exploration or story telling. When portraying nudes it is fascinating not only to explore and emphasise aspects like muscle tensions and weight distributions in poses but also to give their gestures and expressions an emotional purpose by use of body language.
