This is a hand carved hairpin from Tampaksiring, Bali.
Beautifully made, this decorative hairpin looks very pretty on. The natural wood is variegated in markings. Each pin is quite unique being handmade with individual markings! They give a beautiful touch to your long hair when it is pinned up (see my Guides for bun instructions, especially the second one with the wooden pick for this style of fork), and also make a wonderful gift for others.
This double pronged pin measures approx 3.2 cm in width at the end and 16.5 cm in length (usable length is 11.3 cm), weighing 8 gms. It is handmade from Sono wood, a sustainable and durable hard wood which holds up well in moving to dry colder climates, and has beautiful markings. It is much more common than other tropical hardwoods of comparable beauty- some of which have been sadly overused and now have become rare. These are listed as multiple listings, so may differ slightly being handmade from a natural material.
This product is made in Tampaksiring, a little town in the centre of Bali. We first spotted these lovely hairpins in Yogyakarta and bought some there, and by an amazing coincidence we met the maker while travelling home via Bali. We buy direct from the maker – resulting in fantastic prices for you!
