The SWORD
The Viking sword was the forerunner of the cruciform sword of the Middle Ages. This rugged and highly functional example is an authentic replica of the original iron sword worn by the Christian Monarch, Olav the Holy (AD 995-1030), the first effective king of all Norway and the country's patron saint. Olav II Haroldson was raised as a traditional pagan Viking warrior. He fought the English and then allied with them against the Danes in 1013. During this conflict, he experienced a personal vision that caused him to convert to Christianity. He returned to Norway in 1015 and reclaimed Norwegian territory from Denmark and Sweden. During the following 12 years, he consolidated the country. His popularity, the legends surrounding his life, and the miracles attributed to him led to his canonization by the church in 1031. He was the last saint to be recognized by both the Western and Eastern Orthodox Church.

The RECREATION
This limited edition exact replica is made from a cast of the original grave sword currently located at in Norway. It has been hand molded and hand finished in the USA by artists/archeologists expressly for Echoes In Time. A variation of white metal is used in casting the sword from the original mold of the actual burial piece. We utilize a copper-hardened antimony, zinc, cadmium alloy for this piece. While quite strong, it is not intended to be sharpened. Every effort was used to make the recreation as accurate as possible, including the look and feel of an ancient iron, and we are proud of the results. This exquisite reproduction is ready for hanging and is available no where else.

Only 50 copies of this ancient VIKING SWORD were originally produced and were completely sold out by July, 2004. We have finally been able to arrange for an additional limited production run of 50 units. Each piece is individually hand-made. While we are the exclusive source of this piece, our supply is very limited and the manufacturing costs are continue to increase. At this time we cannot guarantee the continued availability of this recreation.
