Historically, Chain maille was used around the World initially as Armour, from the Roman period until the Middle Ages. Today, you will find it used extensively in Jewellery, Fashion Design and Sculpture.
In the Art of Chain Maille, each piece starts out as a spool of wire, mandrels, wire cutters, two pairs of pliers and a spark of creativity. The coils of wire are hand wound and cut precisely into jump rings which are then joined and interweaved in many different patterns to create the piece of Art Jewellery. Many hours are required to complete each piece which is a labour of love for me and quite theraputic.
This bracelet has been created using a variation of the Byzantine Weave. It has been constructed of a Non-Tarnish Silver & Gold Wire plus Genuine Fresh Water Pearls.
Bracelet length is 19cm. Each Pearl Centered Rosette is 1.5cm x 1.5cm. Bracelet weighs 33 grams.
