Chrysler Valiant 1970 VG Convertible I've owned this car for 19 years, first as a 2 Door Hard Top Coupe, then I decided to make it into a convertible which took me 5 years of work to complete. The engineering of the conversion was done by Werner Ihle of Transport Industry COnsultants (Engineering Certificate Number TIC 0005MP). The car was a complete strip, modification and rebuild. The Convertible's top is off a 1969 Dodge Dart Convertible which was brought out from the U.S.A. and the vinyl roof was purchased 'new' from the U.S.A. as well. You can raise or lower the roof in 10 seconds by using 2 clips which are located on the top of windscreen, and the car can also be driven at any speed (with the roof up) without any roof distortion at all. When roof is lowered, it is hidden behind the rear seat with a cover which is studded to the body of the car. The car was debadged as a Valiant and the only badges currently existing on the car are on the glove box which reads 'Chrysler' and '2 Barrel Hemi' which is on the front guards. I'm also running the original 245 Hemi which was a complete rebuild and warmed up a little. The original 3 speed column Auto has also been retained and other specifications include a power assisted disc brake front end and duel pipe exhaust system which is complete from extractors through to rear of the car. When the engine is idling many people cannot tell if it's a 6 or 8 cylinder car.The front wheels are 6 x 14 inch Dragways and rear wheels 7 x 14 inch Dragways with BF Goodrich RE92 Tyres. The front bucket seats are from a Holden Monaro with low back and adjustable head rests while the rear seat was narrowed to fit hand made arm rests/covers which hide the roof folding mechanism and the front seatbelt retractors. The interior was completely re-upholstered to new condition while the boot was also re-upholstered and lavishly modified to top show quality condition. The motor is a 245 oversized 40thou with 265 valves, 2 barrel carter carburetor, mild cam and extractors, while the engine bay of the car is completely detailed with alot of chrome and braiding. The duco is a 2 Pac 'Ford Regency Red' and in A1 condition, just as the Body, Interior and Mechanics are. Overall the car performs very well.
1. Minor tears in the vinyl roof near the side windows - This was caused by the vinyl roof fitting slightly too tight. Can be easily repaired by an Upholsterer. 2. Several small rust bubbles in paint work on each side of windscreen pillars - These are where we welded a smooth cover over the gutter rail which was no longer required. Can be fixed at a reasonable price. The body of the car is, and always has been, 'completely rust free'. I chose not to repair these blemishes before selling as the car has absorbed an exorbitant amount of money to date and it will show you, the buyer, that I am not hiding anything. The main reason for selling this car is that I am almost reaching retirement and have too many cars. Furthermore, I have also recently finished another car that I'm about to hit the 'show circuit' with, and it is with much regret that I cannot afford to keep them all. Finally, I am not fully computer literate, so I have asked a friend who has this ebay account to list the car for me. Any questions should be made directly to me via phone (John - 0260 594876 A.H.) and not via the ebay 'contact seller' feature. I will gladly answer any queries you have about the car. Car is currently garaged in Wodonga Victoria and can be delivered to purchaser in Melbourne if required. Please Note# This car is also being advertised elsewhere for sale and I reserve the right to end this auction prior to the end date as displayed. |
