Classic 1:18 Lowndes Whincup 2008 Bathurst Winner, MIB

This auction is for a mint in box Classic Carlectables 1:18 scale Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup 2008 Bathurst 1000 winning Team Vodafone Ford Falcon.  This is the car that took Craig and Jamie to their third consecutive Bathurst 1000 win, a truly incredible effort given the calibre of the cars, and talent of the drivers, in the opposing V8 Supercar teams. The hat-trick of Bathurst wins cemented Lowndes reputation as a legend in the Australian Touring Car racing scene, not only for his superb car-handling skills but also for his patience and ability to develop tactics and fine-tune them during a race. The fact that Jamie Whincup also won the 2008 V8 Supercar Championship, and looks almost certain to do so again this year, indicates just how far ahead of the curve Team Vodafone really are. Craig and Jamie were unlucky in their quest for four in row at Bathurst this year, but I doubt that the ‘threepeat’ will ever be matched by any other driver combination in the future of V8 Supercars…well done boys, hold your heads high!  

The car up for auction is in mint condition and comes with all of its original packaging and the scale replica of the Peter Brock Cup. The car has never been removed from the box and was only opened to take the attached photographs…and of course to have look at the incredible detail and quality of this fantastic model. The inner and outer boxes have copped a bump on one lower corner and there is a crease running along the top edge of one side (please refer to the photos); the foam inner box, cardboard strap and paperwork are all in mint condition.   The COA is in mint condition without any creases and is numbered a low 1232/4550.
