Stunning "Danish Style" Parker Teak & Ivory Leatherette Chairs (Ten-10!!!) that just looks gorgeous from any angle. Very sleek and very Danish. Made by Parker Furniture in the late 60s, this item is a quite a find, especially in this top vintage condition and 10 chairs to boot. Six chairs are always easy to get, eight is not so easy, but 10? Certainly the design is very Danish and the clean, simple lines, sleek construction and total comfort makes these chairs timeless.

These chairs came with worn cloth covers that were dated and we've recovered them with commercial grade "Ivory" leatherette, which is more off white and therefore less prone to stains & marks. This particular leatherette from the Wortley Group (a large supplier of upholstery leather & fabrics in Victoria) is soft & supple yet used in commercial applications such lounge suites and dining suites where strength & toughness is paramount. Lovely color and the feel is almost indistinguishable from leather. We prefer leather but some people prefer non-leather products for a variety of reasons so in this case, we have reupholstered these chairs differently.

The wide, curved backrest, sleek seating pad and elegant frame and legs, are some of the best design features you can get in these vintage chairs. Not many chairs presently have these features. Their craftsmanship is top class as they are very solid. Added to that, we've restored the frames in Danish oil that gives it a warm glow, put in new Leatherette covers that looks and feels like leather yet easier to clean, and added new foam and straps that equates to total comfort and good looks. With the thick padded backrest and seat, no more aching buttocks & lower backs. Crikey, some of the chairs being sold in the big department stores made of solid hardwood feels like a the "Rack" after a few minutes sitting down. These chairs will not disappoint! This type of minimalist, sculptural design is just superb from any angle.

To have these chairs duplicated now in Australia would cost a small fortune. Teak is now super expensive for local manufacturing as it is fast disappearing through over harvesting in Asia. Teak has been and always will be premium timber. This is 100% old growth Teak that probably came from the jungles of Thailand or the Philippines. Lovely reddish patina that only time can produce. Certainly one of the most s
tylish example of Mid-Century/Vintage design that has stood the test of time.

Condition now is about 8.9/10 as there are almost no defects that we can discern except vintage wear. Should last another 50+ years with care. Why spend money on furniture (up to $$$ on current plastic/glass/metal models) that would be worth less in just a few years when you can invest in quality upcoming Antiques like this item! Definitely an eBay bargain price at just $180 per chair - Crikey, even some office chairs from China made of chrome, plastic & foam costs more than that! Good dining chairs from Harvey Norman are being sold for $599 and Domayne for $799. Just check out the junk mail you get for home/office products and you'll be surprised. Now some folks would like to do it all themselves, that's fine, but try getting a quote for good leatherette and labor costs from the upholsterers, let alone a restorer. It's a real eye opener.

Please note that the table and other objects are not included in this Auction. Height-82cm, Width-48cm, Depth-50cm. P.S. Please check out my other goodies by clicking on the addVintage Shop or Google addvintage for more information. Thank you.
