These pipes came to me from NZ. They are reliably dated 1890 Metzner and Co. cocus wood pipes made by Glen for the Metzner Co. in London. Metzner sold instruments made by others, and these pipes are most definitely Glens. The cocus wood is in fantastic condition, and the pipes reflect this in their tone.
I'm selling to finance another set of pipes. The combing and beading on these pipes is excellent for their age. I can attest that they tune well, have a slightly less robust sound to them than do Hendersons, and have a slight tenor bias to their tone. They are steady, and lock in well. I'm playing them with eezedrone reeds, which are a good fit.
I'm selling them as sticks and stocks only. These are the pipes that are featured on the bagpipe museum site. http://www.thebagpipeplace.com/museum/page292.html . Unfortunately, the chanter is not for sale.
E-mail me with your e-mail address is you'd like further phots of the pipes, or specific close ups of any one area of them. Please ask as many questions as you see fit - they are my pipes, and I will try to answer anything you have to ask.
Happy bidding. |
