THE 'CONFIDENT RIDER' FLATWORK SCHOOLING WITH CONFIDENCE CD

Produced by Sharon Shinwell, co author of the book 'Ride With Confidence'.  Specifically designed to help overcome feelings of anxiety, tension, nervousness or apprehension when leading in-hand, schooling and riding your horse or pony in an indoor and outdoor arena.

Hear Sharon's voice

This new CD includes background music at specific and relevant intervals, and the therapeutic section has been extended to encompass a broader spectrum of issues and concerns connected to leading in-hand, riding and schooling in an indoor and outdoor arena.

At some time or other, you will probably want to ride or school your horse/pony in an outdoor or indoor school, and for some riders, this can be quite a nerve racking experience.

Most riders feel that as long as they are riding and working in an enclosed arena, with no apparent obstacles that can cause alarm or fear; like those found on busy roads, or in wide open spaces, they will feel safe, confident, and in control, but for some riders, even this seemingly safer option, can hold may fears and anxieties. The noise of the wind against the wall panels, spooky dark corners, reflections in mirrors, door openings and other horses and riders using the same space, can all add up to a very stressful situation.

Outdoor arenas can be just as stressful for some, if not more so, with the wind and rain to contend with, noises from cars, perhaps the movement of other animals behind hedges, or fencing, maybe even a Farrier working nearby, and all those other activities that take place on an busy yard.

If this sounds like your situation, then this Self-Hypnosis session is for you.

Leading a horse in-hand can also present problems for the nervous handler, so this area has also been included in this self-hypnosis session.
How Flat Work Schooling with Confidence can help:

Employing tried and tested Hypnotherapy Techniques to help you control feelings of anxiety, apprehension, and negative self-talk and physical tension; enabling you to remain relaxed, calm, confident and positive whilst leading, riding or schooling your horse/pony in any indoor or outdoor arena; making leading out, riding and schooling, the fun, productive time it should be, for you, and your horse/pony.

Employing Hypnotherapy Techniques to help you control feelings of panic, anxiety, fear, and tension; enabling you and your horse to remain relaxed, calm and confident, when you both need it most.

Each CD contains at least 2 tracks, and sometimes 3.

The First track is always an Introduction: This introduction explains what the CD will do, and how to listen to it, as well a reassuring you that hypnotherapy is perfectly safe and cannot make you do anything you would not normally do. You can awaken at any time you want to should the need arise.

The second and Third Tracks contain a 5-step Hypnotherapy process:

The first part of the process of hypnosis, is the “induction” part of the relaxed trance state; a day dreamy state of mind, often experienced when listening to music, or driving for a long time on a boring road, listening to a long lecture, or during meditation.

The Induction sequence is to allow the mind and body time to prepare to move into a state of complete relaxation. This prepares the mind and body to transfer on to the next stage of the hypnotic process.

The second stage of the hypnotic process is called the “hypnotic trigger". At this point, different techniques will be used to increase the depth of the hypnotic relaxed trance state, sometimes a word is offered, or a particular behaviour, such as touching ones ear or pressing a finger and thumb together.

This trigger can be used in the normal waking state to reproduce the same state of calmness and relaxation achieved during hypnosis. It can also be used to bring back to the conscious mind any imagery or suggestion that the unconscious mind has visualised or heard during hypnosis. It is always emphasised that this “trigger” word or action, will ONLY take on this special significance when used in relation to hypnosis, in all other circumstances the word or action will have the same meaning as it always has.

The third stage of the hypnotic process is called the “hypnotic deepener” this stage takes the mind through a process that encourages the critical conscious mind, to fade into the background and the unconscious mind to come into the foreground, and a much deeper hypnotic, relaxed trance state is established. This state is associated with a vivid involvement in imagined events, a shift into a context-free literal understanding of words and phrases, and a removal of the restrictions ordinarily imposed upon conscious abilities and responses. Hypnotherapy is designed to take full advantage of these characteristics. The trigger and deepener stages are interwoven with each other and the listener is taken ever further from the conscious world.

During the fourth stage, is the "therapeutic" (Hypno-therapy) element of the hypnotic trance state; the unconscious part of the mind is spoken to, as it is comfortable and ready to accept more precise language, with either direct or indirect suggestions offered by the Hypnotherapist. The unconscious part of the mind is encouraged to accept and experience new ideas, thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. The listener will experience the actual event or events that they are struggling to deal with, or the health issue, but this time they will only experience positive sensations, they will see the goal they want and actually be there.

They will use all your senses, of smell, hearing, taste, touch, and feelings to experience this achievement; feeling all the positive emotions associated with that achievement. All negative non-productive thoughts, concepts, ideas, feelings, and behaviours are reduced or rationalised and put into their true perspectives. Post hypnotic anchors are introduced at this stage, to enable the listener to make an instant connection between the thoughts, feelings, and emotions they have experienced during the hypnotic state, to the here-and-now situation they may find themselves in later, when in a fully wakeful state.

When Hypnotherapy is used for improving health, the process can actually affect the way the body functions. By focusing on certain biological and physiological aspects of the body, whilst in a state of hypnosis, it is possible to cause blood to flow better, veins to dilate, heart rate to reduce, and white blood cells counts to increase, thus improving the immune system.

Once the unconscious mind is reprogrammed, using a variety of techniques such as deep relaxation, therapeutic language, positive imagery, metaphors, indirect or direct suggestion, and post hypnotic anchors, the unconscious mind can then positively influence the conscious mind in any given situation or series of events. Our perceptions of the situation can be altered, we feel differently about it, and depending on the reason for the hypnotherapy in the first place, we may feel more relaxed, calmer, optimistic, energised, healthier, motivated and more in control of our responses, habits and behaviours.

This control increases our confidence; with growing confidence comes the realisation that we can actually achieve those goals that we never thought possible – and the actual subsequent achievement is our biofeedback, and as mentioned before, hypnosis can actually change the way our body functions, causing blood to flow better by dilating blood vessels, reduce heart rate, increase cell production to improve health, as well as many other recorded improvements.

The final fifth and final stage is “The Termination” or “Ending” which is when the relaxed, hypnotic trance state is brought to an end, and the listener is gently brought back to full consciousness and wakefulness.

When the Hypnotherapy session is finished, you should be left feeling very calm, relaxed, and peaceful. Very similar feelings experienced by those that use meditation.

FAQ's About Hypnotherapy:

How long does it take to work?

Everyone responds to Hypnotherapy and Self-Hypnosis differently, just as people do to any form of therapeutic intervention. Some will notice an instant change and for others it may take longer, but even when it feels that nothing at all has actually happened, you’ll be surprised at just how much has changed, but this is only noticed in retrospect, when you look back at how you were before you started using self-hypnosis. Just give it time and don’t try too hard to make it happen. You will find that the more often you use self-hypnosis, the easier it will be to achieve a very relaxed state of hypnosis, and the deeper the hypnotic trance state will become.

Why hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis has been used for centuries and is recognised by medical practitioners in the National Health Service, where it is being successfully used to control the symptoms of IBS. It has helped millions of people to stop smoking, lose weight, and conquer their phobias and fears, such as fear of the dentist and fear of flying. Positive thoughts result in positive re-actions, which bring positive success and achievement.

Since hypnosis accesses the creative unconscious part of the mind, where there is no challenge or resistance to new ideas and concepts, the mind becomes receptive and responsive in such a way that it can absorb these new ideas and concepts quickly and easily. Therefore the treatment can be much more effective, and produces longer lasting results than with many other complimentary and alternative forms of therapy.

How and why does Hypnotherapy produce results?

By simply listening to one of our self hypnosis recordings, you will become progressively more and more relaxed until you enter a deep, relaxed, hypnotic trance state.

All the tension and stress is eliminated from the body, and as the body relaxes so does the mind. The deep relaxation process will distract the conscious part of your mind, and while this happens, positive suggestions are given directly to the unconscious part of the mind.

Once the unconscious mind is open, it is much more receptive to the information it needs to change the unwanted experience or behaviour you want to stop or change. When you're in a deep, relaxed, state of hypnosis, you will be given 'post hypnotic anchors', which you can use when in a conscious wakeful sate to help activate the changes, such as feeling more self-confident, determined to lose weight, control a pain or fear, or to quit smoking forever.

How often should I listen?

Self-Hypnosis should be practised daily for the first 7 days, thereafter, use it until your goal is achieved, or when you feel you need to re-affirm the goal you have already achieved. You cannot use self-hypnosis too much!

When should I listen to my hypnosis session?

You can listen to your self hypnosis session anytime you like, but NOT when driving, operating any machinery or carrying out any activity that requires concentration. You should also make sure that you won't be unnecessarily disturbed when you listen to your self hypnosis session. It is important that you allow yourself 40 - 45 minutes in a safe place with peace and quiet.

Will I be in control at all times?

Yes, most certainly, the trance state of Hypnosis can be broken at any time, you will still be able to hear everything, respond to others and be fully conscious to attend to anything that you need to.

What if I fall asleep?

If you hear the count-up at the end of the recording, then you were not asleep, although it may have felt as though you were, and your subconscious mind has absorbed what it needs to. If you are unaware of the end of the recording, then it maybe that you entered into a deep state of sleep. If this the situation, you will have absorbed the information up to the point of sleeping, but not afterwards, so try listening in future in a more upright position, in a well lit room, when you are less tired.

What if I want to buy different Hypnotherapy sessions at the same time?

The “Relax and De-Stress” session can be combined with any other titles, but if you are using any other titles, leave at least an hour between them, so that your mind has time to assimilate and absorb the information. Ideally, though, it would be better to resolve one issue before attending to another, as the mind can be overloaded with information, and this could reduce the effectiveness.

Are there any people who should not use Hypnotherapy or Hypnosis?

If you suffer from schizophrenia, paranoia, psychopathy, any psychosis or are violent, then hypnotherapy cannot help you. If you suffer from persistent or chronic symptoms, such as high or low blood pressure, please consult your doctor or practitioner for advice.

Disclaimer: Hypnotherapy should be used in conjunction with, and not as a replacement for any conventional medical treatment that you may be receiving. As Hypnotherapy can slow the heart beat down, we suggest that if you suffer with low blood pressure, you should check with your GP before using Hypnotherapy or Self-Hypnosis.

This updated and revised CD includes background music at specific and relevant intervals, and the therapeutic section has been extended to encompass a broader spectrum of issues and concerns.
