An absorbing and instructive true life story of ocean voyaging
and incredible seamanship. In 1898 Captain Voss set sail in the
35 foot sloop Xora from British Columbia for the Cocos
Islands in search of buries treasure, ending in Callao, Peru. In
1901 there followed an astonishing 40,000 mile voyage across
the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic oceans, lasting more than 3
years, in a 38 foot dugout canoe Tilikum. No less incredible
were his adventure in Sea Queen in 1911, which equal the best
of the true seafaring stories, and include a graphic account of
being caught in the rage of a typhoon off the coast of Japan.
