Fantastic precision device and highly collectable hand held calculating machine. The Curta Type 1 calculator contains well over 500 individual components and was made in Liechtenstein (next to Switzerland) between the late 1940's the early 1970's. Based on the serial number, the likely manufacture date of this particular machine is around 1957 or 1958.
For information about the Curta just do a google search - you will be amazed.
This is a Type 1 Curta. It has a black body, metal crank and a metal clearing ring. The calculator works well and is in very very good condition. The paint work is essentially unmarked with only a few minor blemishes on the bottom where the base plate attaches to the body – from sitting on a desk or table. As can be seen in the photos, this Curta is practically perfect elsewhere except for minor wear under the clearing ring – but paint is till intact even here. Comes with the original metal, shock proof canister with the o-ring intact on the thread and the rubber pads in the bottom of the canister and in the top of the lid. The canister has a few scratches but no dents.
Not many left in this condition as a lot were dismantled and ruined by curious owners and many were used by navigators in car rallies and were worked hard.
The price reflects the condition of this item - if you want it jump in.
Also included are two separate pieces of ORIGINAL Curta documentation:
1. "Your Curta Calculator" – double sided fold out basic instruction brochure with turquoise highlights – a bit fragile on the folds but otherwise OK
2. "Computing Examples for the Curta Calculating Machine" - 51 page booklet of step by step procedures for using the machine. All pages are intact and untorn – some age staining.
