Curtiss JN Jenny Aircrart Model

This replica model has been constructed from Metal (tin). The use of this material, combined with its size, and the ‘aged’ appearance achieved by its paint work, give this aircraft an amazing level of realism, & it would look sensational on any desktop or bar, or adorning a study.

The Aircraft is 40cm from nose to tail, has a 45cm wingspan & measures 17cm from the ground to the top of the upper wing.

The Curtiss JN-4 is a series of aircraft built by the Curtiss company of Hammondsport, New York. Curtiss combined the best features of the model J & model N trainers, built for the Army & Navy, and began producting the JN or "Jenny" series of aircraft in 1915.
The Curtiss JN-4 biplane is possibly North Ameria's most famous World War 1 aircraft. It was widely used during Worlr War 1 to train pilots. It was a twin-seat (student in front of instructor) dual control biplane. Its "Pulley" front engine and maneuverability made it ideal for initial pilot training with a 90 hp (67 kW) Curtiss OX-5 V8 engine giving a top speed of 75 mph (121 km/h) and a service ceiling of 6,500 ft (1980 m).

It's hard to look at a Jenny without smiling. A Jenny pilot and author Bob Hare once wrote, To those who teethed on a Jenny, there is something magical in recalling the feel of air pressure on her elevators or rudder; of the throbbing of her OX-5 engine pulling her out of a dirt field; of every rib, strut and wire vibrating in unison; of the fabric dancing to the same beat as she bored her way through the air."

There is a certain nostalgia associated with early aircraft. Rickety airframes, rotary engines and flying wires seem to capture a sense of wonder and imagination. They remind us of a simpler time when aviation was new and exciting -a time when an aerial battle looked more like a "flying circus" than a dogfight. This amazing model, of this fascinating & historically significant aircraft, captures this period in history in a very unique way
